Build Day with Lake Mead Christian Academy
On March 1, Lake Mead Christian Academy traveled from Henderson, Nevada, to Pevely, Missouri, to participate in a Find Your Rest build day. This group purchased enough lumber to build one bunk bed for the community, and they spent most of the day building. To optimize time and resources, Lake Mead Christian Academy split into groups to perform different tasks, such as sawing, measuring, and sanding. This group of volunteers did not stop there. After the group finished building beds, they then helped clean the partnering church of Community Bible Church of Pevely. Build Days with Calvary Bible Church and FishHawk Fellowship Church
“You don’t need to be a professional carpenter to build bunk beds with Find Your Rest; you simply need a willing heart to serve the Lord,” said co-founder of Find Your Rest Nik Maxwell, as he explained the plan for the mission work that would occur over the next three days. On Monday, June 15, two groups of volunteers arrived at Community Bible Church of Pevely (a partnering church of Find Your Rest) for their mission trip with SCORE International Ministries. First Delivery Day in Harlan, KY
On June 7, Find Your Rest (FYR) delivered its first round of bunk beds in Harlan, Kentucky. Our new ministry, based in Pevely, Missouri, traveled eight hours to deliver the beds to families in need. SCORE International Ministries organized the mission trip and placed FYR in Harlan. Once in Harlan, FYR partnered with a local baptist church who will visit the homes of these families in the future to follow up with the bunk beds, continue in fellowship with the families, and foster discipleship. First Build Day with Victory Christian Academy
On May 26, Find Your Rest had its first build day with Victory Christian Academy (VCA), which aimed to prepare the ministry for its upcoming mission trip to Harlan, KY. VCA brought its youth group–a group of about 15–who were a tremendous help to Find Your Rest’s bunk bed initiative. The volunteers divided into groups to preform relatively simple tasks that would eventually lead to the completion of various bunk bed parts. As pictured below, these tasks included cutting wood, drilling pieces together, and sanding the imperfections.
