Dominican Republic 2023
Find Your Rest Ministries was recently blessed with the opportunity to expand our mission to several communities in the Dominican Republic. On July 6, 2023, a small group of volunteers from our home church, Community Bible Church of Pevely, traveled internationally to build and deliver bunk beds while spreading God’s Word.
The first day of the trip consisted of lots of wood-working. The team built a saw table for the shed and multiple luggage racks. Everyone worked super hard in the heat to prepare multiple bunk beds and care packages.
It was such a blessing to see our friends, Manny and Jackie, and to serve alongside their various ministries. Additionally, we were blessed to go to church at Los Montones on Sunday morning with our friends, Kike and Kelli. It was an incredible service! We used the day to finish packing bags and to cut posts for the house. Then, we spent the rest of the day relaxing to gain strength for the big build day that took place the next morning.
That next morning we started building the house! We also sent out volunteers to deliver hygiene care kits door-to-door in the village while sharing the Gospel of Jesus and praying for families. We met so many special ladies who needed love, encouragement, and prayer. It was truly an eye-opening experience!
Once the house was complete, we went to a new ministry called Happiness Now. This ministry serves a fantastic group of kids, ranging from lower elementary to upper teens. A big thanks to Jackie, who is giving her life to help these precious children, educating them, teaching them trades, sharing the gospel, and loving all of them.
We also delivered our bunk beds to several families in need. The living conditions of these lovely people were humbling, and we were blessed with the opportunity to get to provide them with beds. On the last day of our mission trip, we headed to the capital and then to the airport.
As we reflect on this trip, we thank God for His grace and love in our lives. We thank Him for salvation and for the opportunity to go to heaven, for all who call upon His Name and make Jesus Christ the Lord of their lives. We also thank God for the opportunity to serve others around the world. May these incredible Dominican families be impacted eternally for the Kingdom of God.
